King ready for return

Tottenham captain Ledley King made his return to action in a behind closed doors friendly against West Ham midweek.

Tottenham captain Ledley King made his return to action in a behind closed doors friendly against West Ham midweek.

In a squad consisting mainly of youngsters returning from loan spells after the football league season ended, King and fellow centre back Sebastien Bassong were the only two senior squad players to participate in a game where Spurs came from 2-0 down to win 3-2.

It is the first action since the 2-1 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage back in October and, after coming through the match unscathed for the full 90 minutes, is likely to be avalable for selection for the remaining fixtures against Liverpool on Sunday and Birmingham City on May 22nd.

“Can’t continue”, “Ridiculous decision” – Some Tottenham fans vent their frustration as 18-year-old doesn’t receive game time in Championship

Jack Clarke left out of Leeds United squad in win over Barnsley

Jack Clarke was left out of the Leeds United squad for their Championship clash against Barnsley.

The 18-year-old was signed from Tottenham at the start of the summer but was sent back to Leeds for a season-long loan. It was expected that Clarke would get first-team minutes regularly under Bielsa, however, that has not been the case.

The winger hasn’t featured in any of their Championship games, and his chances in the cup competitions have been reduced after Leeds were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Stoke City.

Bielsa’s side are leading the Championship at the moment, however, Clarke should have featured after his game-winning goal for the England U20s against Switzerland during the international break.

Fans unhappy with Clarke’s game time

The English winger will not develop if he doesn’t feature in the first-team and Bielsa does have a tough decision to make. EFL rules limit the number of on-loan players a team can name on a matchday and that has seen Clarke miss out on several games.

Tottenham need to make a decision on the Englishman’s future as Clarke has a lot of potential, but recalling him won’t ensure he would get starts at Spurs too.

Many Tottenham fans were unhappy with the English winger’s situation at Leeds and vented their frustration on Twitter.

Tottenham match London derby record after 4-0 win over Crystal Palace

Tottenham record their joint-highest London derby win in Premier League history

Tottenham were excellent against Crystal Palace and scored four goals past the visitors in the first half.

Spurs needed that win after not picking up the three points since the opening day of the season, but this performance should lead to better outcomes for the rest of the season.

Tottenham played Arsenal before the international break in a London derby but gave away a two-goal lead, however, that was not repeated yesterday.

The four goals scored saw Tottenham record their joint-biggest win in a London derby in the Premier League era.

Son the lucky charm for Spurs

Son started for us against the Eagles and scored a brace in the win. The second goal was an exquisite volley from a Serge Aurier cross, and it seems that the South Korean is a bit of a lucky charm for us against Palace.

The forward has faced Palace four times at home and has scored in each game.

Tottenham dominated the clash and it was a surprise that Harry Kane didn’t find the back of the net on Saturday.

The Englishman did set up Erik Lamela for the fourth goal of the game, and we should carry this kind of form into the next game.

Son was one of the stars for the side and we need the South Korean to be at his best for the rest of the campaign.

Mauricio Pochettino claims this England legend wants to play for Tottenham due to new stadium

David Beckham tells Mauricio Pochettino that he wants to play for Tottenham

Mauricio Pochettino must have been happy with the 4-0 win over Crystal Palace at the new Tottenham Stadium.

Spurs had a tough start to the campaign with a defeat by Newcastle at home, but we were incredible against the Eagles.

Mauricio Pochettino meets David Beckham

Son Heung-min was one of the stars of the show, however, David Beckham was also present in the stands watching the game.

The English legend had met with the Tottenham squad last season too and the Sun quoted Pochettino saying that Beckham wanted to play for Spurs thanks to the stadium:

“I was talking with Beckham after the game and he said he wished he still played and that he played for Tottenham because this stadium is amazing. We haven’t played many games here and it’s important to make this our house.

“With time we will be at home here and then it will become very difficult for opponents to win here.”

Spurs need to pick up results at home

The stadium is one of the best in the world and we need to make it a fortress like we did to White Hart Lane.

We were unbeatable at the old stadium and it will take time for us to find that same kind of form in our new home.

The loss to Newcastle was a shock result and hopefully, we don’t have similar slip-ups for the rest of the season.

Our next game is against Olympiakos in the Champions League and the second game in the group stage of the competition sees us face Bayern Munich at home.

The Bavarians should be our rivals for top spot in the group, and a win over them should make us the favourites to finish first.

Son gets 9/10, Aurier 8.5/10 – Tottenham player ratings from the brilliant 4-0 win over Crystal Palace

Tottenham vs Crystal Palace ratings: Tottenham player ratings

Tottenham turned on the style in what looked like a difficult game as they beat Crystal Palace 4-0. All the goals came in a crazy first half, with Son Heung-min and Serge Aurier running riot.

The South Korean forward has had a slow start since returning from suspension but scored a brace, while Aurier was brought back into the team for his first start of the campaign.

Erik Lamela also got on the score sheet while Patrick van Aanholt put past his own keeper in between Son’s brace.

Son and Lamela had the chances to extend the lead after the break, but this was an impressive performance after a tough start to the season.

Tottenham had several players out with injuries, but it didn’t matter much in the end. The 4-0 win put us back in the top four before Sunday’s games and we carry great form into the Champions League clash in midweek.

Tottenham player ratings

Hugo Lloris – 6.5/10

The Frenchman had a couple of decent saves to make but wasn’t troubled too much by the Eagles today.

Serge Aurier – 8.5/10

Aurier made quite an impact by returning to the team. His first low-cross was turned into the net by Van Aanholt while he also picked out Son with a majestic effort as the South Korean scored our third.

Toby Alderweireld – 8.5/10

This was possibly Alderweireld’s best performance of the season as his passing was on point and wasn’t really troubled by the Palace attack.

Jan Vertonghen – 8/10

The Belgian also had a relatively quiet game and did a decent job alongside Alderweireld.

Danny Rose – 7.5/10

The Englishman was up against Wilfried Zaha several times but did well to keep the Ivorian in check.

Moussa Sissoko – 7/10

It was the usual Sissoko performance as the Frenchman ran his socks off and put the Palace midfield under pressure.

Harry Winks – 7/10

Winks too was his normal self as he had a few chances to score but couldn’t get the better of the Palace keeper.

Erik Lamela – 8.5/10

The Argentine has been one of the bright spots in the team this season and scored the fourth goal of the game. Lamela should have had another goal in the game but this was another positive display from the attacker.

Christian Eriksen – 7.5/10

Eriksen didn’t really put up a fantastic performance against the Eagles but had his moments with some nice passes.

Son Heung-min – 9/10

Son was at his best and his second goal was fantastic as he lashed in Aurier’s cross to make it 3-0. The South Korean also had chances to score his hat-trick but he should build his season on this performance.

Harry Kane – 8/10

Kane might not have scored but he played a part in some of the goals. He created the one that Lamela scored and had a few pops at goal too.

Tanguy Ndombele – 6/10

Came on in the second half but couldn’t do much.

Ben Davies – 6/10

Replaced Rose and played out the final 15 minutes or so.

Lucas Moura – N/A

Came on late in the game to freshen things up.
