Tottenham keep faith in Pochettino as they send scout to South America

Tottenham sent scout to Argentina as a sign of keeping Mauricio Pochettino

Tottenham sent scout Steve Hitchen to Argentina, which is a sign that they are keeping Mauricio Pochettino, according to the Daily Mail.

The Argentine has seen his team struggle this season and Spurs have had several poor results of late. Pochettino has a couple of weeks off due to the international break and needs to turn things around.

The report claims that Hitchen scouted players in the South American nation, and many see this as a sign that Spurs aren’t looking to replace Pochettino.

Tottenham also have a huge Argentine contingent with Juan Foyth, Erik Lamela, Paulo Gazzaniga and Giovani Lo Celso in the side. Lo Celso hasn’t been able to make a mark this season, but big things are expected from the Argentine star.

No chance of Pochettino losing his job

Pochettino’s job is safe at Tottenham but the players believe he could leave if given a chance (h/t Daily Mail). The report adds that Pochettino’s departure would have to be started by Poch himself.

The Argentine is one of the best in the world and is capable of turning things around at the club. Sacking Pochettino now isn’t the right move and we need to give him the time to get things back on track.

“I need to play”: Tottenham star open to leaving club after failed summer move

Serge Aurier admits he is open to leaving Tottenham after failed summer move

Ivory Coast defender Serge Aurier has admitted he is open to leaving Tottenham.

The 26-year-old saw Kieran Trippier leave in the summer but he remained at Tottenham. Aurier has been tried in a few games this season but his performances haven’t been that great.

The former PSG star was sent off against Southampton and has recorded just one assist all season for us.

The Ivorian claimed that he couldn’t play because he wanted to leave but he is focussing on Spurs at the moment (h/t Sun):

“I was looking for an exit, so I couldn’t play. When you’re trying to move, you can’t play because an injury or whatever else can scupper everything.

“I wanted to leave so it was normal for me to not be on the pitch.”

However, the 26-year-old added that he was looking for an exit and wants to play more football:

“That desire to leave, I think it’s a bit normal. I’m an important player of the national team. I’m not 20 anymore and I need to play, to be happy.”

The Ivorian added that he wasn’t “disappointed” at staying, but claimed he would see what happens later as the window is closed.

Another player to leave the club?

Christian Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen are all free agents at the end of the season and we could lose several players in the upcoming windows.

Aurier has never been able to perform consistently for Spurs since joining from PSG and he should have been our first-choice right-back after Trippier left.

However, the 26-year-old has had injury problems too and it will be interesting to see where he ends up next season.

Tottenham need to find a replacement for him as we would only have Juan Foyth and Kyle Walker-Peters as options for the position.

Moussa Sissoko played in that position recently but he should be playing in the midfield.

Tottenham fans praise Son Heung-min’s performance against Sri Lanka

Tottenham star Son Heung-min was in action for South Korea against Sri Lanka last night. The Asian pair met for a World Cup qualifier, and Son’s side hammered the Lankans 8-0.

The Spurs star captained his side to the resounding win and even bagged a couple of goals in the rout. South Korea have to be one of the favourites to make it from the Asian qualifiers and have been on the up in recent years.

Son’s side led 5-0 at half-time before adding three more goals in an impressive display against the minnows.

Son needs to find that form for Tottenham

The 27-year-old was one of our best players last season, however, things haven’t been great for us in this campaign.

Son has scored just three goals in the entire season and needs to find the back of the net more often. The attacker alone cannot be blamed for the poor performances, as most of the players have been below par.

The 27-year-old was one of our brighter players against Bayern Munich in the Champions League and could have had a hat-trick on another day.

He has to carry his international form against Watford once we are back in action. Many Tottenham fans were pleased with Son’s outing and praised his performance.

Mauricio Pochettino has one major call to make for the clash against Watford – Opinion

Mauricio Pochettino has a tough call to make regarding Tottenham’s right-back against Watford

Juan Foyth played the entire 90 minutes for Argentina against Germany in a friendly during the international break.

The result didn’t really matter as the Argentine got some important minutes on the pitch. He hasn’t played any games for us this season but his position against Germany could be important for Spurs.

Foyth started his career as a centre-back at Tottenham, however, he was tried as the right-back in a few games.

The 21-year-old took up this position for the national side last night and looked decent. The right-back slot has been a problem area for Spurs this season, and Mauricio Pochettino would have to make a big call against Watford.

Spurs face the Hornets after the international break and need to pick up a win. Our form hasn’t been great in this campaign, but we should be strong enough to beat Watford.

Selection dilemma for Pochettino

Serge Aurier is the senior right-back at the club but his performances have been below par this season. The Ivorian was linked with an exit during the summer (h/t Sky Sports), and he even got sent off against Southampton for two needless challenges.

Kyle Walker-Peters started the campaign well, but has had his injury problems. The Englishman hasn’t been able to nail down a place in the team despite Pochettino handing him several chances.

Moussa Sissoko was also tried in that position, but he needs to play in the midfield. We are yet to see the best of the Frenchman in the middle of the park, and it makes no sense in playing him at right-back.

Playing Foyth at right-back reduces our attacking output when compared to the other options. Walker-Peters should be the first-choice right-back, but his injury issues are a major concern.

Selling Kieran Trippier and not replacing him is hurting us at the moment as all our options for the right-back spot have their pros and cons.

Pochettino might decide to play it safe and keep Aurier in the starting XI, however, Foyth could also get a run.
