Tottenham boss Mourinho aims dig at former clubs with regards to playing young players

Jose Mourinho aims dig at former clubs while speaking on Tottenham’s academy

Jose Mourinho has already taken a swipe at his former clubs regarding youth products.

The Portuguese became Mauricio Pochettino’s replacement after the Argentine was sacked.

Mou himself has been without a job since leaving Manchester United last year but seems ready to turn things around at Spurs.

The Portuguese doesn’t have a great track record of promoting youth players, however, he took a dig at his former clubs regarding this.

Tottenham have seen Harry Winks, Harry Kane and Kyle Walker-Peters come through the ranks, and Mourinho was open to handing young players chances.

The ‘Special One’ was speaking to the club’s channel and said (h/t Sun):

“There is not one manager in the world that doesn’t like to play young players and to help young players to develop – not one.”

Mourinho, however, claimed that his former clubs didn’t actually have a good system in place, unlike Tottenham:

“The problem is that sometimes you get into clubs where the work that is below you is not good enough to produce these players.

“So I look to our history and you see that the academy is always giving talents the first team need.

“Of course I always look forward to working with that profile.”

Spurs to make a winning start under Mou?

Our first game under Mourinho isn’t easy with trip to the London Stadium.

West Ham are also struggling under Manuel Pellegrini, and this could be a big match for both sides.

Tottenham need a win to get their season going, and we could put the West Ham manager under more pressure by beating them.

“I’m done until he’s gone”, “Is this fake news” – Some Tottenham fans furious about replacement for Pochettino

Tottenham fans are left unimpressed after Jose Mourinho is made head coach

Tottenham moved swiftly to announce a replacement for Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine was sacked last night with Daniel Levy thanking the coach for all he had done.

Pochettino had taken us to the Champions League final and made us regulars in the top four too. However, this season hasn’t been great for us and we are in danger of missing out on European football.

The performances haven’t been impressive either and Spurs announced Jose Mourinho as the new head coach.

The club released a statement where Daniel Levy highlighted the winning mentality that Mourinho possessed:

“In Jose we have one of the most successful managers in football. He has a wealth of experience, can inspire teams and is a great tactician. He has won honours at every club he has coached. We believe he will bring energy and belief to the dressing room.”

Mourinho won the Champions League with Inter Milan and Porto, and has won league titles in four countries too.

The Portuguese won three Premier League titles with Chelsea but was sacked by Manchester United in his last job.

Fans still back Poch

Pochettino did a great job with a tight budget and this was the first real season where he struggled to get the team going.

He turned our fortunes around and it was a little upsetting to see him get the sack.

The Argentine kept a dignified presence even when we could not buy a player for over a year. He kept things quiet when the stadium was being built, but it wasn’t enough to keep him here.

It will be interesting to see how Mourinho does in his first game against West Ham.

The Portuguese could turn things around for us, but many Tottenham supporters voiced their displeasure over him joining.

Tottenham released a statement regarding the decision to “relieve” Poch and the rest of the coaching staff (h/t

Daniel Levy was quoted saying:

“We were extremely reluctant to make this change and it is not a decision the Board has taken lightly, nor in haste.

“Regrettably domestic results at the end of last season and beginning of this season have been extremely disappointing.

“It falls to the Board to make the difficult decisions – this one made more so given the many memorable moments we have had with Mauricio and his coaching staff – but we do so in the Club’s best interests.”

Levy’s statement thanked Pochettino and the staff for all that they had done. The chairman also highlighted that we spent more than a year without a home ground and admired how Poch dealt with that situation.

Fans unhappy with decision

Pochettino’s hands were a bit tied with regards to new players coming in.

We went more than a year without landing some fresh talent but we got a few in the summer. However, many of our players haven’t been at their best while some are free agents at the end of the season.

The performances haven’t been there since the start of the season, and we are in danger of missing out on a Champions League spot.

However, Pochettino remains one of the best in the Premier League. Many fans had a go at the players for not backing the manager, while some targeted Levy.

Lloris is expected to be out till 2020 and provided further details about the injury to L’Equipe (h/t

“My injury? This is a rupture at the level of a ligament. I also suffered at the level of a muscle, under the biceps with a big lesion. I had surgery after 4 weeks.

“We left a chance that it heals naturally, but after four weeks we feared for the stability of the arm for the future. Since the start, it was planned like that. And it does not delay more than that the deadlines.”

Lloris not concerned about his career

Tottenham have struggled this season and haven’t won a league game since Lloris’ injury.

Paulo Gazzaniga has done well to replace the captain but Lloris was looking at the bright side of things.

The Frenchman claimed things happen on the football pitch and added he was lucky not to receive a fracture.

The 32-year-old also revealed how painful the injury was but wasn’t concerned about his future:

“Ah yes on the moment, I know it’s serious. I had rather felt a fracture but hey I was lucky.”

“At the moment, yes, the pain is unbearable. I have never experienced such pain but no I am not worried about my career.”

Spurs have to be careful regarding the Frenchman’s return from the injury. Lloris has to regain the stability and strength in his elbow and recently underwent surgery too.
