With the rumour mill circulating regarding the possible appointment of Andre Villas-Boas at White Hart Lane, the excellent Charlie McBride analyses why he will be a success should he succeed Harry Redknapp at Tottenham Hotspur.

The news on Monday night broke that Tottenham Hotspur had, reportedly, agreed a €10m fee with Hoffenheim for Gylfi Sigurdsson, according to Bild.

“There is nothing, it is all lies,” Andre Villas-Boas was quoted as telling O Jogo today. Many have speculated he is referring to the vacant Tottenham Hotspur managerial position. However, having checked the O Jogo website, there is no print of question asked from the reporter who published the words of the Portuguese tactician.

With the European Championship still ongoing, the spotlight has largely been taken off Tottenham Hotspur. The Harry Redknapp sacking, naturally, sent shockwaves through football, with proclaiming it to be the wrong decision, others the right.

So the fixture list has been announced, with the mighty Spurs travelling to Newcastle United for our first game of the season, as yet no manager has been appointed by Daniel Levy, but who has been linked with our club? Matt Walsh takes the time to rate that rumour.
