An all-important clash that could define the destination of the Premier League title was on show at the Etihad. Tottenham travelled to Manchester to face a side they had defeated 4-1 earlier in the season.

Tottenham were in the ascendency in the league and they knew a win over Manchester City would close the gap to leaders Leicester to two points as the Foxes were defeated earlier in the day by Arsenal.

The game didn’t really have a lot to talk about in first half but things changed in the second as Raheem Sterling was adjudged to have handled the ball when Danny Rose crossed. Replays showed that the decision was harsh but Harry Kane made no mistake from the penalty and he gave Tottenham the lead.

Gael Clichy though crossed in wonderfully for an Iheanacho equaliser for Manchester City. The home side were trying to get the lead but substitute Erik Lamela produced a wonderful ball for Christian Eriksen who scored in the 83rd minute to give Spurs the lead and all three points.

Hugo Lloris – 7/10

Couldn’t do much about the goal that he conceded but it was a good show by the French goalkeeper.

Kyle Walker – 6/10

Had a good game until he couldn’t track Clichy who crossed the ball in for the goal.

Toby Alderweireld – 8/10

Alderweireld was brilliant at the back for Manchester City and dealt with the threat of Aguero really well.

Kevin Wimmer – 8/10

Had another excellent game in the heart of the defence for Tottenham.

Danny Rose – 7/10

Got the handball decision which got them going in the game and had a good showing in defence as well.

Mousa Dembele – 8/10

Another solid display in midfield for the Belgian and he showed why he is so important for Tottenham this season.

Eric Dier – 7/10

Dier broke up a lot of Manchester City attacks and even kept Yaya Toure in check.

Son Heung Min – 7/10

Ran about a lot in the first half but couldn’t show his attacking ability in the game, a good shift by the South Korean.

Christian Eriksen – 8/10

Scored an all-important goal for the away team that won them the game against City.

Dele Alli – 7/10

The English midfielder didn’t really have a great game but did have one or two good moments.

Harry Kane – 7/10

Scored the all-important penalty for Spurs without much nerve and this could be the pivotal moment for Spurs’ season this year.

Substitutes

Tom Carroll – 6/10

Was brought on in the second half and tried to hold the fort for Tottenham.

Erik Lamela – 6/10

Brought on for Dele Alli and produced a great through ball for Eriksen to score late on in the game.

Nacer Chadli – NA

Came on late in the game.
