Newcastle vs Tottenham – The Best And The Worst Rated Players

If Arsenal finished 20th, Spurs would somehow manage to finish 21st in a 20 team league. They have absolutely bottled what looked like their best season in the premier league, but end up not even finishing on record points. All they needed was a draw and mentally, physically, Spurs did not show up at St.James’s Park. Pochettino bemoaned his worse day in management and the loss of Delle and Dembele seems quite costly.

Hugo Lloris – 5.

Not much the Spurs captain could do to save his side this time. Shipping in 5 goals, his most humiliating performance in a Spurs kit. He made quite a few remarkable saves throughout the year but his heroics were far from present today.

Kyle Walker – 3.

Lost his cool and head when it was needed. Not mentally up to it today. Maybe Trippier would have shown more hunger.

Toby Alderweireld – 5.

Shambolic by the high standards he had set for himself in the last 2 seasons. He’d be hoping for a good night’s sleep to forget the game.

Jan Vertonghen – 4.

After forging an incredible chemistry the whole season, a disastrous performance today showed why the big sides often overlooked the Belgian in the transfer market.

Ben Davies – 4.

A rare start for the Welshman and he did not prove a point. Offered very less going front and was not extraordinary in defence either.

Eric Dier – 4.

There’s not much the England international could do. Wasn’t getting the support from his partner in the midfield and was very isolated in the game. Did contribute with the assist for Lamela’s goal.

Ryan Mason – 3.

Pathetic is a strong word and I don’t like to use it, but there isn’t many adjectives that would do justice to his performance like this one would. Spurs have lost the last 5 games he started. Maybe its time to look at other options?

Eriksen – 6.

Brightest spark in Spurs’s side today. He had the hunger and drive the other players lacked.

Son – 4

Poor. Offered very less going front and Spurs missed the pacey target man that Son is.

Erik Lamela – 6.

Scored the lone spurs goal and it was well taken too. Otherwise he had an ordinary game.

Harry Kane – 5.

Should have really scored more goals than what he has this season. Was kept quiet all game long. Not impressive at all.

The game has blemished the wonderful season for spurs but at least they are guaranteed Champions League football. Onwards and upwards from now on hopefully.
