Mauricio Pochettino had his critics when he arrived to take the reigns at White Hart Lane but he has silenced them with a stellar season which saw a surprising title challenge and the emergence of young British talents with a brilliant system in place that can make Spurs a force to reckon with in the coming years. The three lions will hopefully benefit from Pochettino’s men as 5 players are selected in the Squad after a brilliant campaign.

The next season will be tougher and provide a stern test as the players and the manager will be tested on the biggest stage in the Champions League after six long years. New players are needed to make the squad stronger to challenge on all fronts and Spurs are expected to be busy in this transfer window. A striker and a centre midfielder are the top priorities and Daniel Levy needs to work fast to secure deals for the new faces.

With each day passing by, new names are being linked to the club. Some make sense, but some are just plain bizarre which look like they are generated by bored tabloid journalists with a random name generator. Let’s take a look at such three bizarre rumours that have been linked recently to the club:

1. Hugo Lloris to Man United:

Jose Mourinho is rumoured to make a move for the Spurs’ captain if David De Gea leaves for Real Madrid. This is just bizarre as Lloris can’t leave the club when they have actually qualified for the Champions League and he is an important member of the Spurs squad, so the manager and the board won’t leave the player at any cost.

2. Christian Benteke:

The Belgian forward has not been able to impress at Liverpool and is rumoured to leave the club. Spurs are set to be interested to sign him as a backup for Harry Kane but he is just not the type of player who can adjust to Pochettino’s tactics and is just another rumour to be ignored.

3. Michy Batshuayi:

The 22 year old Belgian has been in fine form for Marseille and has been a target for Spurs since past couple of months. But his release clause is £30 million which is too high for a player untested at the highest level. Levy won’t spend that much on a youngster and it is just another rumour in the papers that won’t happen in the near future. However, reports also say that the youngster is a target of Arsenal, Chelsea and even La Liga giants Barcelona, so it will be interesting to see where the youngster’s future goes on from here.
