Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has played a real gamble here. According to the reports from Sky Sports, the Lilly-Whites and Marseille have agreed a deal that will take the 21-year-old Georges-Kevin N’Koudou to the White Hart Lane.

Tottenham Hotspur finished third last season and that means the they will be battling in the Champions League and for that, it is obvious that the team will need to strengthen the squad, but do they really needed another attacking winger? Well, that is where the manager played a gamble.

Dele Alli is retrieving himself and in the process, if his game time is dwarfed, his progress might hinder. The Champions League stage is the perfect venue where the English international could experience top quality football.

The move for N’Koudou meant that Tottenham have no plans for Njie, but it is not so now. The manager wants to keep him as well. Besides Njie, Tottenham have Heung-Min Son, another attacking midfielder, who joined the White Hart Lane outfit last summer and even though he failed last season badly, many believe that he is worth another shot.

Just like the newest Tottenham signing Vincent Janssen, N’Koudou will arrive at the club after spending a single season with his club. And just like Vincent Janssen, Marseille will be making a a sizeable profit on N’Koudou as they bought him for £1m 12 months ago. Janssen ended his previous campaign as a top scorer, while N’Koudou’s stats were pretty good as well.

It is hard to comment on whether N’Koudou will make it to the final cut because let’s face it, Lamela and Eriksen are irreplaceable and if the manager wants to make a change, it will be Dele Alli. And if Dele Alli is dropped, Eriksen will most probably move to the attacking midfield and N’Koudou will be placed on the wings from where, he could do what he is known for.

The £22m spent for Heung-Min Son hasn’t been justified yet and the player himself will be looking to put a positive impact in the upcoming season. Besides all of it, one thing is certain. Nacer Chadli’s future as a Lilly White will become a doubt and most probably, the 26-year-old might face an exit soon.

There is no doubt that N’Koudou can be a great addition to the squad. So all in all, the team has N’Koudou, Heung-Min Son, Chadli, Njie and two homegrown players; Alex Pritchard and Josh Onomah fighting for the spots in the middle of the park.

Now it will be an interesting sight to see how the Argentine will handle all of it.
