Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is preparing his squad for the up coming Premier League season, which kicks off on 13th of August for the Lilly-Whites. The very first stop for the side will be Everton, who recently appointed the former Southampton manager Ronald Koeman, and a nail biting encounter is expected.

The fact that the team will be battling in the Champions League have really excited the entire fan following of the team, but for that, the manager will have to take some major steps. The Champions League will play its part, but the major hurdle for the manager is the Premier League. The Lilly-Whites will be looking to replicate the same form next season as well, but this time, the scenario will be completely different.

The arrival of world class managers like Antonio Conte, Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho will shift the Premier League to a next level and to compete at that level, Tottenham needs to strengthen its squad and the manager himself has stated that he needs to bring the energy and a proper balance in the squad before competing in the Champions League. Last season, they faced a humiliating loss against the German side Borussia Dortmund, and the team needs to understand that in the Champions League, they could face something more than that.

Now, with that being said, what Tottenham actually needs?

Vincent Janssen

Starting from the arrivals; the Argentine manager quickly identified the key areas where the squad needed the upgrade. Tottenham have Harry Kane, but excluding him, the side didn’t have a target man, hence the arrival of Vincent Janssen from AZ Alkmaar has been justified. Besides that, what they needed was the perfect partner for Moussa Dembélé/Eric Dier, who could work in the midfield and could launch himself forward at times, and to overcome that problem, the manager brought Victor Wanyama from Southampton.

These are the only signings Tottenham have made so far. Now, according to the reports from Sky Sports, Tottenham have reached an agreement to sign Marseille’s 21-year-old attacking winger Georges-Kevin N’Koudou and his arrival has surely completed the attacking pack for Pochettino.

Now, the main priority for the manager would be a defender, especially a centre back, and that too an experienced centre back. French centre back Samuel Umtiti was a reported target for the club, but the player recently joined Barcelona, hence, an alternative needs to be found.

Well, an attacking midfielder was a desperate need for the manager, and this has been fulfilled by Georges-Kevin N’Koudou, but many fans across the globe are questioning his arrival and to be perfectly honest, we too believe that signing him into the squad is nothing more than a gamble. The Lilly-Whites already have Clinton N’jie for the same task and N’Koudou’s arrival at the club will only hamper his progress. Players like Nacer Chadli and centre-back Federico Fazio are expected to depart from the club, while Son Heung Min will have to fight hard for the position, but given his experience in the Champions League, he could fit right in the midweek games for the side.
