While the team is away on the tour to play their pre-season fixtures, a crazy rumour is gathering pace back in London. Reports are suggesting that English side Manchester City, who are in the market to sign a young and dynamic left back have made Danny Rose their prime target and even the fellow London side Chelsea, who tried to sign the defender last summer might also come back with a strong offer for the player.

Now, according to the reports from the Mirror, to avoid all the possibilities of Rose being lured by the rivals, Spurs are planning to offer the 26-year-old a new and improved contract. Club chairman Daniel Levy, who will be facing a tough summer to hold on to his star players is reportedly queuing up some great deal for his players.

According to the same report, the Lilly-Whites are ready to offer an improved contract to Danny Rose, who currently earns £35,000-per-week and is under contract with the side until 2019. Kevin Wimmer, the Austrian defender has already signed a five-year deal with the club and if the reports are to be believed, then the club is going to offer Eric Dier a new and improved five-year deal and will make him one of the club’s best-paid players on around £70,000-a-week.

Rose

Dany Rose, 26, is the longest serving player for Lilly Whites and thanks to his wonderful performance for the club and his country, the club can trust him blindly. He joined Tottenham back in 2007 from Leeds United and till date, he has spent four loan spells in England itself. He became a first team regular for the side during the 2013-14 season, and that was when he signed a five-year deal with Spurs.

There is no doubt that the 26-year-old was one of the best players for Tottenham Hotspur last season and this is also a truth that the side do not really have a concrete alternative for the player. Yes, they do have Ben Davies, but Rose is on another level.

In his 24 appearances last season in the Premier League, the 26-year-old bagged three assists and won 54% of his duels. It is fair to say that since Rose has got his breakthrough in the team, the side have played their game with more confidence and have also developed themselves tactically.

He is a quick full back, who, unlike the modern defenders love to challenge for the ball and thanks to his incredible stamina, he could track the field up and down all the time. Not just defending, the 26-year-old was a joy to watch as he pressed his opponents in their own halves and besides that, he was a pure threat when the team launched counter attacks.

There is no doubt that the Englishman is one of the most important assets for the manager and even in the next season, where the team will be battling in the Champions League, he could provide a certain cutting edge to his team.
