While the transfer saga to sign Kevin N’Koudou continues, the manager has added another attacking midfielder to his list. According to the reports, the Tottenham boss is currently monitoring the situation of 22-year-old Lille attacking midfielder, Sofiane Boufal. The Moroccan international only joined Lille back in 2015, but his solid performance in the 2015-16 campaign has earned the interest from many clubs around Europe.

Boufal, who scored 14 goals for Lille in his 43 appearances, has been a key figure for French side and very recently, Lille president Michel Seydoux has confirmed that Boufal  can leave the club this month if a suitable offer comes in:

“Normally Sofiane Boufal has permission to leave,” Seydoux told a news conference on Tuesday. “In theory, there won’t be any more movement.

“The first thing with Sofiane is that he’s doing well. His operation went extremely well and his recovery is in advance of the prognosis.

“What’s most important is that Sofiane might be able to return to the pitch again. After that, with the market … we don’t know what will happen. But if Sofiane should stay, that doesn’t burden us in any way.”

14 goals for an attacking midfielder seems a very interesting attribute, but who is this 22-year-old star?

Sofiane started his playing career with the French side Angers as he joined their youth system. Progressing through their ranks, he made his debut for the side in August 2012. The Moroccan eventually became a first team regular for Angers and made 31 appearances for the side in the 2013-14 season.

In the following season, the midfielder helped his side win promotion to Ligue 1, and during the first half of the 2014-15 season, he started gaining interest from several Ligue 1 sides, but besides that, the English sides Leicester City and Newcastle United showed their interest as well. The Paris-born Morocco international eventually joined the Ligue 1 side Lille and made an instant impression as he scored 3 goals in 14 league games.

And in the previous season, he achieved a great success with the side and for the second time in his career, he has attracted interest from an English side and this time, Tottenham Hotspur are knocking on the door.

Style Of Play:

Boufal, who created 69 chances last season is known for his dribbling abilities, which he is able to star due to his brilliant first touch. The 4 times man of the match in Ligue 1 last season, Boufal is a pure attacking threat and if given enough space, the Moroccan is capable of punishing the opponents as he possesses a great finishing ability. While Lille was playing PSG last season (which ended 6-1 in favour of PSG), Boufal gave a display that the Lille fans can never forget. He surpassed the players like Marco Verratti (thrice), Blaise Matuidi and even the Brazilian defender Marquinhos.

He is a typical new-generation youngster, whose game is solely based on his speed and his dribbling abilities.

But his biggest gift sometimes becomes his own enemy, as he tries to work very hard and that sometimes complicates the game. Besides that, he does not really possess a physical strength that is necessary for the Premier League. Sofiane, who idolize Ronaldinho, is a great prospect in the sport, but the gem still is an unfinished business and joining a Premier League side can really give him that cutting edge he solely deserves.
