Can This Attacking Duo Work Together In A 4-1-2-1-2 Formation For Tottenham?

The task in the upcoming campaign for Tottenham is surely a difficult one as they will be playing the big European nights as well, hence, reinforcement in many areas are expected. The first and utmost priority for the manager would be to finish as high as possible, and also to challenge for the title. In terms of transfers, their Argentine gaffer has so far signed only two players, namely, Victor Wanyama and Vincent Janssen. Well, both the names were the necessity for the squad as Dembele will be facing a suspension for the first few games and for the attack, there were no concrete options for the spot besides Harry Kane.

Last season, the Lilly-Whites were heavily subordinated on Harry Kane for the goals, but now, with the signing of Vincent Janssen, the credit can be shared. Vincent Janssen has come to the White Hart Lane with a lot of expectations and with a Champions League card on their side; the Dutch international is expected to play a big role for the side.

Well, it is understood that Harry Kane will be the first and utmost priority for the manager, but it is also certain that Janssen hasn’t come here to warm his shoes on the bench. With two star strikers battling for the starting role, the manager will face a severe headache while choosing the formation, but is it possible to play both of them all together in the same lineup?

Well, indeed it is! But first of all, the Dutch international will need to experience the aura of English Premier League before going all out.  Like we said before, Tottenham played with a single striker throughout last season and if Janssen is supposed to adapt, then one of the players from the squad will have to give up his position.

4-1-2-1-2, this might be a possible formation for the squad, if they tend to fit both the strikers into the team. But the scrim in this scenario would be the lack of a central midfielder. The backline would be the same, while on the defensive midfield Eric Dier or Victor Wanyama will be charging their authorities. On the wings, the manager can use his patent options, i.e., Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela, while as an attacking midfielder, Dele Alli will be grounding himself up.

Now, with these players settled; the two forwards can launch their attacks and the plus point in this formation would be the dominance of the attackers on the opposition’s defensive line, or what can be called as an extensive pressing. While one will be charging for the ball, the other can create space and in all of this, Alli would have to be vigilant all the time.

Remember the partnership of Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke? Well, maybe this is just the start for the Lilly-Whites and who knows, the pair might work wonders on the grand stages. While the players like Alli, Eriksen and Lamela will be supporting the midfield, the attacking duo can launch themselves forward at times to tease the opposition’s defence.

Well, we believe that there are some possibilities where these two strikers can form a great partnership, but then the final verdict would be of the manager’s, and that would be the best for the team.
