Dele Alli and Danny Rose of Tottenham

Tottenham have reportedly have won their first battle in the summer transfer window, as they appear to have successfully warded off interest for three of their star players, Dele Alli, Kyle Walker and Danny Rose.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola seems to have given up on signing the English stars from Tottenham as he fears it might be too difficult to lure them away from the club. Just as good as it sounds, this is a massive news considering the number of quality players Tottenham have had to sell in the past.

Spurs have always been considered as a selling club and even lost a world-class talent in Gareth Bale few years back. The Lilywhites couldn’t do much in terms of hanging on to the Welshman and had to give in to the financial might of Real Madrid.

The modern Manchester City, are nothing short of the European biggies in terms of ability to spend huge money on their transfer targets and hence, money wouldn’t have been an issue had Tottenham agreed to sell their prized assets.

It is indeed commendable that Tottenham have managed to ward off interest from a club like Manchester City, which clearly indicates the distance they have travelled as a club. Pochettino seems to be working wonders at White Hart Lane, and with the Northumberland Development Project nearing its completion, it looks like Spurs have reached the level where the other teams are beginning to fear the prospect of facing Tottenham on and off the pitch.

It was Sportsmail that learned that Txiki Begiristain will be pursuing alternative targets. City’s sporting director believes the British players good enough to improve their squad will be too difficult to acquire.

Dele Alli, Kyle Walker and Danny Rose are all contracted with the club on the long term and hence Spurs are under no pressure to let go of their star Englishmen. Tottenham’s core talent is well known as it comprises of quality English players. A lot was expected from their bitter rivals Arsenal, who seemed to have signed the next bunch of English stars when they landed Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jack Wilshere, Carl Jenkinson, Kieran Gibbs, and Calum Chambers together.

But now, it is evident that Tottenham have the best local talents in their ranks. Clearly, the Arsenal British core is nowhere near Tottenham’s quality and it is another one for Spurs over their fierce rivals.

Finally, good times are ahead for Tottenham and the Spurs faithful can sleep in peace!
