Sandro Ramirez

Tottenham are setting their sights on a transfer target that they missed out on last season. Sandro Ramirez had joined Malaga at the start of the season and has been on a bit of a scoring spree and now Spanish publication Sport, claims that Mauricio Pochettino wants to bring the former Barcelona man to London.

The 21-year-old Spaniard has scored 10 goals in 25 appearances for Malaga and could be allowed to leave the club for only £5million.

The report also states that the Spaniard signed a three-year deal with the La Liga side, but it seems that Malaga promised the player a move to a bigger club should such an opportunity arise during his stay at the club.

The £5million clause in the contract of the 21-year-old only comes into effect in the summer. Malaga had agreed with such a clause so as to ensure Sandro doesn’t move away in the winter window. With the Spaniard leading the scoring charts for the side, it could be time for him to bid adieu to the La Liga side.

Tottenham do have history when it comes to signing former Barcelona youth team players with Giovanni Dos Santos spending a few years at White Hart Lane. While the Mexican showed glimpses of his natural talent, he did fade away and never was a regular for the first team.

Sandro seems to have slipped under the radar for a while but he seems destined for great things at the moment. Moving away from Malaga and playing in a league where he doesn’t have a lot of experience can be a daunting task. Even talented players such as Bojan Krkic and Xherdan Shaqiri haven’t turned out to be regular stars for their club and Pochettino would need to ensure that his new signings do well from the get-go.

Ramirez, however, could be a cheap option for Tottenham to have on the bench next season as spending £5million for a player with potential isn’t the worst deal in the world of football.
