Mauricio Pochettino

Tottenham seem to be in great spirits as they host bitter rivals Arsenal in the North London derby. The Lilywhites have been in exceptional form this season at home and have only dropped 4 points at the Lane.

It will be an emotional game as this would be the last North London derby at the stadium as Spurs plan for a move to a larger stadium which will be built close to the original ground. While the stadium is being built, Spurs will be playing their homes game at Wembley next season, and hopefully, they can sign off from the Lane with a win against Arsenal.

If Tottenham win, they will ensure that St. Tottenringham’s Day does not take place. All three points against Arsene Wenger’s men will mean that Spurs finish above their rivals for the first time since the 1994-95 season, and even if they do not win, it does seem unlikely that Arsenal will overtake them in the league.

Mauricio Pochettino seems to have gotten the team playing without any fear and the team does look relaxed ahead of the clash. The Argentine was speaking to Ossie Ardiles and Ricky Villa and spoke about the preparations for a game.

“Our football idea is the same when you were a player or manager. The football you love to see and the football that you feel, we share. The last sentence I always say before we play is: ‘Remember, enjoy. Enjoy the game.’ That is most important, to feel free to play. We work a lot during the week to prepare for the game, that is true, but then it is to trust in yourself and trust in your team-mate and enjoy football. As when you were a child playing football, it was an emotion.”

Spurs can add misery to the Gunners’ season by beating them, which would severely jeopardise Arsenal’s chances of playing in the Champions League next season. And that would be a great feeling for every Tottenham fan. The derby is surely going to be an emotional one considering that it is the last one at White Hart Lane and the stakes are quite high.

It’s NLD time! COYS!
