The rift between Kyle Walker and Mauricio Pochettino seems to be getting bigger and it seems the England international is on his way out of the club. The right-back hasn’t featured in the two big games in recent weeks, against Chelsea and Arsenal, after a falling out with Pochettino regarding his fitness and training regime.

Manchester City and Barcelona are a couple of clubs who have been linked with a move for the 26-year-old defender and Spurs fans would be worried about not finding the perfect replacement for one of the best players this season.

However, The Sun reports that Football Whispers took a dip into the stats and have come out with some great news. Instead of spending millions to replace the £35 million Walker, the Lilywhites have already played with the right player for their style this season.

Kieran Trippier played in the two derbies against Arsenal and Chelsea and fits incredibly well for the side. The 26-year-old right-back has actually nabbed three assists this season despite playing 26 fewer league games than Walker. That is a decent return, which turns into brilliant as Walker only has a couple of assists more to his name.

Trippier also registers 1.2 key passes per game while Walker just shades ahead in this stat with 1.3 per match for Spurs. The former Burnley player also registers a lower number of fouls per game than Walker and also registers 3.5 tackles per 90 minutes compared to 2.3 for Walker.

The former Burnley man also provides more passes per 90 minutes with 52.6 compared to Walker’s 48.7 and doesn’t lose the ball as often as Walker with 0.5 dispossessions compared to 0.9.

Not many would have expected Trippier to turn out to be a match for Walker but the former Burnley man is getting the job done with the limited appearances he has had this season. The 26-year-old could become the most important player in the summer for Spurs should Walker decide to jump ship and join City.
