Joshua King

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly eyeing a move for Bournemouth sensation Joshua King in the summer. According to Mirror, Spurs are targeting a move for the Bournemouth striker, whose 12 goals in 2017 are only behind Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku, who are both frontrunners for the Golden Boot.

The report also claims that Tottenham will have to stump up £15million to land the Norwegian, who is contracted to Bournemouth until 2020. King has hit a golden patch in which he has scored 11 goals in 12 games and 12 goals in 16 games in 2017. It has been a remarkable turnaround in form for the striker and even received praises from Eddie Howe, who said,

“I’m sure there’s people taking notice and writing his name down. His form has been very good.”

Joshua has 15 goals to his name in the league this term, same as that of Eden Hazard of Chelsea. He stands 9th in the highest goalscorers in the league for the season and is only behind some big names like Alexis Sanchez, Diego Costa, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero, and Romelu Lukaku.

He has made 34 appearances this term, of which, 24 of them have come with him being played as a striker. He has featured 6 times on the right wing, 2 times on the left, and once as an attacking midfielder. However, his productivity drops massively when he hasn’t featured as a striker. In 24 games up front, he has scored 12 goals and an assist, whereas he has only 3 goals and an assist to his name while playing on the wings/attacking midfield.

Our Verdict

King has been a revelation since the turn of the year and his remarkable form has not gone unnoticed. He would be a perfect backup for the phenomenal Harry Kane, who is virtually irreplaceable from the Tottenham set-up. Kane has made the striker’s role at White Hart Lane his own and there is no displacing him.

Signing Joshua King would be a shrewd move as the 25-year old wouldn’t cost much. It would be £15million well spent if Tottenham decides to go for the Bournemouth man.
