Tottenham have been clearly short in midfield and defensive areas this season and it has been seen. Luckily, there weren’t too many injuries at the club unlike Arsenal or Manchester United, and so Pochettino has managed to escape punishment.

However, expecting lady luck to be with the Lilywhites next season as well would be wrong on Pochettino’s part and no wonder that the club have been linked with so many players.

The moves seem to be in the direction of filling the gaps caused by the apparent lack of depth and hence Spurs have been linked with a lot of midfielders and defenders (central ones, to be particular).

Harry Maguire is one of the players who has been linked with Tottenham in the past and if reports are to be believed, Spurs are the favourites to land the defender in the summer. Earlier in April, ESPN revealed that Tottenham were eyeing a move for the Hull defender. Now, the odds on Hull City defender Harry Maguire signing for Tottenham Hotspur in summer have been slashed dramatically.

After a wave of bets, bookmakers Sky Bet (h/t Hull Daily Mail) (Scroll to 12:28 on the live blog) have reduced the odds on Spurs signing the 24-year-old to just 1/3, making the Londoners the clear favourites for Maguire’s signature. Tottenham sit ahead of Everton (6/1), Southampton (14/1) and Arsenal (22/1) in the running.

Maguire’s performances have seen him get linked with a number of Premier League clubs this season. His recent form has dragged Marco Silva’s side out of the relegation places and into the driving seat in the battle for survival. Irrespective of Hull City’s fate at the end of the season, the club would look to cash in on him this summer while they still can as the defender has just one year left on his current contract.

Harry Maguire has made a total of 34 appearances this season and has scored 3 goals and 3 assists. Primarily a centre-half, Maguire has also played as a right back on 4 occasions this term and has chipped in with a goal and an assist. So it looks like the lad is capable of involving himself in some goalscoring action and it would be a massive addition to any team considering that it comes from a defender.

Do you think Tottenham will end up signing Harry Maguire?
