In what has become a new trend, Premier League clubs are jetting off to various countries around the world to play a post-season friendly. Even Tottenham are doing the same and the Lilywhites will play Kitchee SC in Honk Kong.

Spurs announced the official squad that will be travelling to Hong Kong for the one-off tie on May 26th on their official Twitter account.

It was a full-strength squad named by the Premier League runners-up but there were a few names from the youth side as well. The most notable absentee, though, was midfielder Mousa Dembele. However, it was another player’s absence that baffled the supporters – Marcus Edwards. The youngster had been in a bit of a tussle regarding his new contract at the club but eventually signed one to stay till 2018.

Now the 18-year-old not making the side does raise a few questions about his future at the club. There is no doubt the England U19 international is one of the brightest players to have come from the academy and it is surprising as to why he isn’t in the team.

Hopefully, it is just an injury but that didn’t stop Twitter exploding over the future of the player.

  1. Spurs are sending a youth / academy team to a tournament (Germany IIRC)

Maybe he is included in that squad.

  2. No one mentioned that “supposedly unhappy” Kyle Walker is included in the squad 😉
