‘He breaks the line, he’s very good’ – Former Star Urges Tottenham To Sign This Goal Machine

Tottenham enjoyed a brilliant campaign after managing to finish second in the Premier League. However, it is widely perceived that the club should aim for a trophy next season in order to have any chance of retaining some of the top players like Harry Kane and Dele Alli. While both superstars have been claiming that they are extremely happy at Spurs, it may not be the case for long if Spurs continue to remain second best in all competitions. Even if it means only winning the FA Cup or the League Cup, it would count as a trophy for the club. Tottenham’s last silverware was back in 2008 when the club won the League Cup.

However, it is also clear that the club needs significant strengthening in several areas of the pitch – especially the forward line up – in order to challenge on several fronts. Harry Kane may have finished the league campaign with 29 goals, but he is simply not capable of going up against four different competitions on his own. Former defender Sol Campbell is also aware of the situation. He says that Spurs should try and sign a striker capable of acting as the proper backup for Harry Kane whenever the England international is unavailable. He has identified Moussa Dembele as a potential name who can improve the team.

Well, Former defender Sol Campbell seems to have a solution for Poch. He says that Spurs should try and sign a striker capable of acting as the proper backup for Harry Kane whenever the England international is unavailable. He has identified Moussa Dembele as a potential name who can improve the team.

Celtic enjoyed tremendous success after signing Moussa Dembele on a free transfer from Fulham only last summer. His talent was obvious to see in the Championship, but not many Premier League clubs were ready to take the punt on the former Paris St Germain youth team player. The French forward has managed to take the Scottish football by storm after managing to score 17 goals in 29 league appearances. There were also a further eight assists to his name.

Moussa Dembele would be a good signing for Tottenham

In total, the forward finished the campaign with 32 goals in 49 appearances. His spectacular end to the season has certainly caught the attention of several top Premier League clubs. Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool to be monitoring the situation of the 20-year-old. Campbell says that it is about time Spurs entered into contention for the player. Speaking in an interview with BetStars, he said (h/t Sport Review) :

“Moussa Dembele at Celtic is an exciting forward. He can play anywhere.

“He breaks the line, he’s very good at going forward and dragging defenders into areas where they don’t want to go.

“He’s got a good nous in front of goal as well, so I think he could definitely make a difference to Tottenham as they compete in four competitions next season.”

Our Verdict

Tottenham will once again be playing in the Champions League group stages next season. If Spurs decide to make a move for Dembele, the club might have to be ready to pay a huge sum of money for the player’s signature. Celtic have a contract with the player until June 2020, thus putting them in a very strong position with regard to any transfer fee negotiation.

  1. First of all, who is Judas to be giving advice to Spurs? That said, we should have gone for Dembele instead of Janssen in the first place. He would have cost a lot less then. Still, I would rank him as a better buy than the other overhyped players we are linked with, namely Zaha and Barkley.
