Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur are yet to kick-off in the summer transfer window. After finishing second in the Premier League last season, it marks an important summer for the club as they chase the Premier League glory and a lot will depend on the players that the club will be able to sign in the summer.

Yet, there has been no real activity from our club, as Mauricio Pochettino bides his time to get into action in the transfer market.

But that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from coming up with all sorts of transfer stories and rumours ahead of the next season. We have been linked with various players over the past few months. While some of them may be concrete, the same cannot be said about quite a few speculations.

Football Whispers calculated the likelihood of the speculated players joining us in the summer based on the transfer rumours across the globe and the probability of the player moving to the club, on a scale from ‘1’ to ‘5’, with a ‘5’ rating being a certainty of the player making the move. They released the list of the players who are most likely to join Tottenham and here are the top three players who are tipped to make the move:

#3 Adrien Silva (Rating 2.5)

The 28-year old Sporting CP captain has been linked heavily over the past couple of weeks and there have been reports of us having a €25million bid rejected for the player and going back with an improved bid of €30million as well.

Silva is the captain of the Portuguese club and has gained a lot of experience playing at the top level for years now. The central midfielder was also part of the Portuguese team that won the UEFA Euro 2016 last year and finished third in the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 last month. Someone who will add more steel to our midfield while also influence play going forward, Silva could turn out to be a shrewd addition.

#2 Ross Barkley (Rating 2.5)

Ross Barkley

The Everton man has been linked with us for a long time now, ever since he refused to sign the new lucrative contract that the Toffees had offered him.

It is understood that Poch rates him highly and wants to add more creative players to the squad, making his move quite possible. However, there hasn’t been any action from the part of the club as of yet, as we are not willing to meet the £50million price-tag that Everton have slapped on him.

With the number of signings that Everton have made, it is unlikely that Barkley has a future and with just a year left on his current contract, the club also wouldn’t want to risk losing him for free next season, which would make them reduce their valuation of the Englishman, which is exactly what Pochettino is waiting for (The Sun).

#1 Alfie Mawson (Rating 3.1)

Alfie Mawson Tottenham Target

From being a player in the League One with Barnsley a year ago, to becoming one of the most impressive English defenders in the Premier League with Swansea City, Alfie Mawson has risen rapidly in the last year or so.

The 23-year old had to wait for chances to come his way after completing a summer move to the Swans, but under Paul Clement, he became one of their most pivotal players as the club avoided the drop to the second tier. With Kevin Wimmer’s future in doldrums, we have been linked with a move for Mawson. And judging by the potential that he has shown, the England youth international could turn out to be a great signing for us.

  1. Silva is not a target.
Mawson might be if Wimmer is sold. But Spurs definitely do not want to sell Wimmer.
Barkley is definitely a player that Poch wants.

  2. Barkley is a player Spurs would “take” if the price is right and not over inflated.. 10-15m is the most i would like to pay but worth having around to booster squad rotation options and he would obviously like a move and get a chance to play in the champions league even if it was coming off the subs bench..Barkley knows he would be behind Dele and Eriksen..
