Tottenham Go Back To Target Former Premier League Player After Previous Unsuccessful Attempts

Tottenham Hotspur have contacted Italian club AC Milan as part of their efforts to sign Spanish winger Suso. Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the Premier League side is in touch with Milan and the player’s representatives to stitch a move.

Spurs fans have been frustrated with lack of action in the transfer window in signing players. The only transfer news coming out of Tottenham right now is the exit of star right-back like Kyle Walker. The 27-year old has completed a £45million move to Manchester City (BBC).

Mauricio Pochettino now wants to press ahead with moves to bring new players to North London. Signing a winger has always been Pochettino’s priority but Suso? It will take a lot persuasion from Tottenham to get the player. The player revealed earlier in the summer that there had offers from Champions League clubs, but urged that he preferred to stay with the Rossoneri. And the club too are reluctant to sell the Spaniard.

Erik Lamela has been out injured since October while the likes of Sissoko and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou have not impressed either. With the new season around a month away, it is important that Pochettino strengthens his squad and mounts a challenge on multiple fronts.

But the question again is – why Suso? The winger is not new to Premier League, having had an unsuccessful stint with Liverpool. Even the most ardent Kop faithful couldn’t find a glimmer of hope in Suso’s performances.

However, the 23-year-old redeemed his career last season at AC Milan, scoring 7 goals and 9 assists in an impressive season. He has obviously attracted attention from all over Europe and Tottenham now want to bring Suso back to England.

Will this materialise? Milan have inarguably been the most active club in the transfer market so far. They certainly are doing everything to get back on top in Italy and will be very reluctant to lose Suso. Should that deter Tottenham? Well, what’s bad in trying, because never say never!
