Geoffrey Kondogbia has been on the transfer list of several clubs – especially from the Premier League – in the last few months. Yet, the lack of a concrete offer has led to the Inter Milan midfielder staying at the Giuseppe Meazza up until now. The French international has been at Inter since 2015 after having made the move from Monaco for around £25million.
Despite having been with Inter only for the last two years, it appears that the 24-year old is ready to move onto a new challenge. He has apparently conveyed his decision to leave the club, but Inter have so far rejected most of the verbal interest that has come their way.
As we approach the transfer deadline day, it appears that Tottenham will be one of the clubs to make a move for the 26-year-old. The defensive midfielder would be an apt signing for Spurs, as he would prove to be a quality cover to the likes of Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier. Football London reports that Spurs are about to start negotiations with Inter in the next few days, as concerns grow about the club’s ability to handle matches in four different competitions.
Kondogbia has been a regular first-team player for Inter and has featured in 50 games for the club in the last two years. However, last season marked a major struggle in order to get regular first-team football and it is understood that the player is not happy with his position in the squad.
As Inter prepare to spend a huge sum of money due to the arrival of foreign investors, the club may not be able to hand Kondogbia with the sufficient number of first-team opportunities. Even though Kondogbia has been part of the squad that travelled to China for the pre-season tour, it is becoming increasingly likely that he may depart the club in this window.
