Report – Tottenham Plot Audacious Swoop For £36m Manchester United Attacker

One of the weirdest transfer rumours to have come out in recent days has to be Anthony Martial moving to Tottenham. The Daily Star (h/t Transfer Market Web) reports that we are interested in the 21-year-old, who only joined Manchester United a couple of seasons ago. It seems he has fallen out of favour with Jose Mourinho.

The Frenchman joined United for a fee of £36m (fee could rise upto £58m) and started his career on a bright note as he scored a goal against Liverpool but things have not progressed as much as he would have liked it to and he was on the bench in the 4-0 win over West Ham United at Old Trafford.

Even though the striker scored when he was brought on, Mourinho was extremely animated as he was providing instructions to the 21-year-old prior to him coming on to the field.

His first season for the Red Devils was great as he scored 17 times in all competitions but under Mourinho last season, he only managed 8 goals. The Frenchman is often played out wide and is now further down the pecking order due to the signing of Romelu Lukaku.

An Impossible Transfer To Take Place

While Martial has the talent to certainly be one of the best in the Premier League, even with his lack of game time, the Frenchman would not be able to move to Spurs.

We don’t have the best relationship when it comes to United and transfers. The Manchester club were linked with moves for Harry Kane and also Dele Alli in the recent past, and the board of the Red Devils aren’t too keen on selling the 21-year-old Martial either.

The report from the Daily Star also claims that Inter Milan want to sign the Frenchman and that the deal could happen. It could probably a loan deal as Martial has a lot of potential in him and United won’t let him go easily.

We are yet to sign a single player for our side in the summer but should Levy somehow be able to get Martial on board, it would be a landmark move. However, given that United don’t want to sell to rivals, the deal seems highly unlikely.
