The Juan Foyth to Tottenham rumours are back on as the Times (Subscription required) claims that the young Argentine defender is set to have a medical soon and a deal worth £12 million could be concluded before the closure of the transfer window.

This has been one of the longest sagas that we have been dealing with and after the signing of Davinson Sanchez, this would be another quality defender that we add to our side.

The center-back has been a star for Estudiantes last season and the 19-year-old was involved in a tug of war between us and Paris Saint-Germain as the Ligue 1 giants tried to move up and sign the player.

It seems our negotiations with the club have worked out well and Foyth will be a Spurs player soon. Foyth is an excellent defender with the ball at his feet and with a great track record of developing young talents, Mauricio Pochettino could have completed a deal for a quality player on the cheap.

While Foyth would not be playing regularly for the first-team, he can learn from the likes of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld. We have to plan for the future and with Sanchez already in the side, Foyth can be groomed for a bright future at the club.

Of course, we have seen a number of young players come and go over the years and without the proper environment, even Foyth could struggle to fulfill his potential. The 19-year-old fortunately would play under the right management and it will be interesting to see just how he fits into the side.

We have already seen the likes of Kyle Walker-Peters break into the side this season, even though it was because of the loss of a player, and that is exactly what Foyth would be hoping for ahead of his move.

What will be interesting to see is if Foyth actually gets to play in some of the cup games and with the Champions League coming up, we could see sporadic appearances from the highly rated Argentine.

We should now try to get things over the line as the final day of the transfer window is approaching soon. Hopefully, we will also sign a few players for our attack and midfield before the deadline day comes.
