Tottenham Hotspur are interested in snapping up highly-rated youngster Ademola Lookman from fellow Premier League rivals Everton, according to The Daily Mirror.

The 19-year-old winger joined Goodison Park only in January from Charlton Athletic. The youngster had a lot of clubs vying for his signature at that point of time – including Spurs – but chose to move to Everton.

The England Under-21 star had a dream debut to his life at the Merseyside scoring with his first shot against Manchester City. He made seven appearances for the Toffees including three starts in the second half of the last season.

His impressive performances did not win him a ticket to the first team as Ronald Koeman’s reluctance to play wingers hampered his starts this season. He has started only twice – in the Europa League fixtures against Hajduk Split at the end of August.

With the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Wayne Rooney ahead of him in the first team selection, Lookman is struggling to break into Koeman’s long-term plans.

It is believed that if the situation continues to look grim, the youngster could be looking for a transfer away from the Goodison Park.

This is where Mauricio Pochettino wants to take a march. The Argentine tactician is well-known for his ability to pick out youngsters and give them a chance to break into the first-team.

The England Under-20 World Cup winner has no dearth of suitors as Crystal Palace and Huddersfield prepare to battle Spurs for his signature, according to the report.

Interestingly, all these sides have been reported to be interested in signing Lookman in the summer. Huddersfield made a loan-approach while Palace also tried to sign him before he joined Everton.

Tottenham were locked in discussions with Everton all through the summer – for another England international Ross Barkley. The midfielder is out of action because of an injury and the jury is still out if the club should make a fresh approach in the January transfer window.

With Lookman popping up in the interest columns, it would be interesting to see how this transfer story goes on to unfold.
