Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with highly-rated Celtic youngster Kieran Tierney in the past couple of weeks. The defender has been on the radar of almost all the top European clubs, but it is believed that Tottenham have moved ahead of the competition.
The young left-back has come out in the open and has told that he is really flattered to be linked with a top club like Tottenham.
The youngster has told the Daily Express that, it is a great privilege for him to garner the interest of a club of the stature of Tottenham.
“It’s good. There are no negatives about it. It’s a compliment if there are big teams watching you.”
The young left-back has emerged as one of the finest prospects in Britain although he has penned a long-term deal with Brendan Rodgers’ team recently. There are reports that the youngster is valued at £45m by the club.
Despite being linked to Tottenham by the media, Tierney has no desire to leave Celtic in the near future yet. He believes that he is developing into one of the finest in the world under Rodgers and is enjoying every minute of the action.
“It’s not something that I need to block out. I’m flattered by the names you hear, but I’m loving it at Celtic and enjoying every minute.”
The 20-year-old has grown tremendously at Celtic after becoming a key player at both the club and national level. He is still developing as a player and is improving with every game.
Like in the game against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, Tierney has the right set of skills to succeed against big names.
Tottenham has, in the recent past, become a top destination for youngsters across the globe. The presence of Mauricio Pochettino in the dugout is a favourable factor considering his penchant to develop youngsters and give them a chance to grow.
If Tierney makes the move to Tottenham, he will have to compete with Danny Rose and Ben Davies for a place in the first-team. However, there is speculation that Rose could be on his way out of the club having voiced his opinion to move.
The move for Tierney may not happen in January, but it is possible that it might happen in the summer.
