Cenk Tosun

Cenk Tosun is back on the radar of Tottenham, according to HaberTurk. The Besiktas striker was linked with a summer move to the Premier League but that failed to materialise due to a lack of time and a quality bid not coming in.

A report from Turkish outlet HaberTurk claims that Spurs and even Newcastle have held talks with the 26-year-old striker. The report also claims that Rafa Benitez was close to signing Tosun in the summer but their bid of £17.7m was not enough to bring the striker to Newcastle, with the president of the Turkish club is holding out for £20m.

Newcastle are desperate for striking options as they look to avoid the drop while we are looking for a player that can give us another option at the top and also provide cover for Harry Kane.

Is Tosun The Right Man For Tottenham?

Right off the bat, Tosun is not a young player and his experience might just be the thing we need. While we have tried our luck with younger players recently, they just have not worked out. Vincent Janssen just could not get it done at the Lane and he was shipped out on loan at the start of this season.

We do have Fernando Llorente at the moment but he is 32 and had recently spoken about even moving back to Juventus once he is done with Tottenham.

Tosun already has 9 goals from 15 games in the league and Champions League this season and that is the kind of return which just might make him a great buy in the winter window.

We might be in the running for a number of trophies come the second half of the season and so investing in the squad during the winter window does make sense. Tosun could well prove to be the player that could make a difference between winning a trophy and not winning it due to a lack of cover for top players.
