There’s no Tottenham Hotspur player who divides opinion among the fans as Erik Lamela. The Argentine playmaker has been on the sidelines for more than a year and is still waiting to get back to action. His return is one of the most awaited comebacks for the club this season. He returned to training alongside Danny Rose in October raising hopes of getting into the matchday squad.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino has been treating his compatriot with kid gloves as he’s given the midfielder as much time as possible to recover. Not so easy for Lamela too, considering the multiple surgeries he had to undergo.
There was even a time when it was rumoured that the playmaker could call time on his career but credit to Lamela who held firm and stayed strong to come close to a much-awaited comeback.
And, when it was finally announced on our official Twitter account, the reactions from fans were mixed and varied. Most of them were enthusiastic to see Lamela.
He was pictured with Eric Dier on the training ground and Twitter soon erupted with joy and surprise.

All credit and respect to Erik Lamela for fighting back to where he is now. We mustn’t expect miracles when he does come on to the pitch for the first time in months. I can say one thing is for sure, he will get my support, fully, in an effort to rebuild his confidence and the belief in himself that he can be the best at what he does and provide a fresh energy that inspires teammates.
