Mauricio Pochettino

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is willing to sign players in the January transfer market – provided they are available. As per a report from Football.London, Pochettino is open to the idea of potentially strengthening his squad in the January transfer window.

Manchester City are currently running riot in the Premier League and are 22 points better than Spurs, who travel to Swansea City on January 2.

After being eliminated by West Ham in the League Cup, Pochettino has his eyes fixed on the FA Cup – which starts in 2018 and the Champions League where the team has performed exceptionally well, having qualified for the round of 16 as group winners.

However, the Argentinean says that he is happy with the squad at his disposal if he fails to find ‘quality players’ to help add something to the team in the transfer market that officially reopens tomorrow.

“For us it’s to see if there’s an opportunity to try to improve the squad and to sign some good quality players. If it’s not possible I’m happy with my squad,” Pochettino told Football.London.

Mercurial striker Harry Kane is aiming to become the first player in Premier League history to score three consecutive hat tricks after finishing 2017 with trebles against Burnley and Southampton. However, he missed training on Friday. But our gaffer looked hopeful despite Kane being deemed a big doubt for the trip to Swansea.

“He’s ill. He’s cold like me! He’s at home. The doctor was there at his house. Like any player when they don’t feel good. We’ll see tomorrow if he can be training or can be here. No big issue,” Poch explained.

Also when asked about midfielder Victor Wanyama’s involvement against the struggling Swans, he added:

“Maybe yes. He was involved last game and then was out of the squad. Now we have a lot of players who can be involved. We’ll see about the decision. The good news is that he can again train and is available to be selected.”

It remains to be seen whether Spurs sign players or not in the upcoming transfer window. We have been linked with a move for Bordeaux’s high-flying winger Malcom, while Fulham’s highly-rated teenager Ryan Sessegnon is also considered to be a top target for Pochettino.

Interesting January ahead!
