Tottenham get hope over £40m target as manager confirms player may not stay at the club

Tottenham have been given a boost in their chase for one of the brightest players in Ligue 1 as Bordeaux manager Jocelyn Gourvennec has claimed that he cannot guarantee their star player, Malcom, will remain in the club. The Brazilian winger has been an incredible signing for the French side as he only moved there in the summer but already has 7 goals and 5 assists to his name.

The 20-year-old still has a long way to go before becoming one of the best in the world but his manager at Bordeaux suggests that the transfer window cannot guarantee what a player will do in the future and isn’t sure of Malcom’s future too.

Gourvennec was quoted by Made in Foot where he said:

“I build for the sequel with Malcom. The football is football, I do not imagine so far that he can leave but you never know.

“I’m not not the ultimate decision maker for Girondins and the market remains the market.”

The 20-year-old would be a great addition to any side and a report Brazilian outlet Esporte claims that we could end up signing him for £40million, after having a £31million bid rejected last week. £40million isn’t that big an amount when compared to the current prices being paid for top players.

Competition Ahead To Sign The Rising Brazilian Star

It isn’t just us who want to sign the Brazilian up with Manchester United also being linked with a move for the 20-year-old. Malcom has already shown that he can do the business when it comes to a major league, as he was playing in South America before joining Bordeaux. He just might be able to reciprocate the same form should he join a Premier League side.

We do require a quality talent that can take us to the next level and while Malcom only has half a season under his belt, he still can turn out to be a great player in the future should he get the right coaching under a quality manager such as Mauricio Pochettino.

There have not been many Brazilians playing for our side in recent years but one thing you can guarantee from 99.9% of footballers from the country is that they will bring flair to the side and that just might be the thing to turn us into a world-class attacking side.

That said, spending £40million on a half-season wonder is a risk but we have seen such players becoming a star and hopefully, Malcom follows suit.
