Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to social media to call upon manager Mauricio Pochettino to start Kyle Walker-Peters ahead of Serge Aurier against Rochdale in the FA Cup on Wednesday.
Spurs axed their own leg when they conceded a last-minute equaliser at Rochdale that set up a replay at Wembley. They remain the hot favourites to progress into the quarterfinals of the FA Cup but first, they must negotiate the League One side on Wednesday.
Pochettino bids to win his first trophy in England and has taken the FA Cup very seriously this season. Our gaffer has constantly picked out a strong lineup and is set to include the likes of Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli against Rochdale.
But one senior figure Spurs fans don’t want to see tonight is Serge Aurier.
Aurier had a shocker of a game in Sunday’s 1-0 win at Crystal Palace. After being penalised for three foul throws, the Ivorian missed a sitter at Selhurst Park.
That has seen Spurs fans crying their hearts out to see Poch drop Aurier for Walker-Peters, who was subbed at half-time in the fourth-round draw at Newport County last month.
The 20-year-old, a Spurs academy prospect, hasn’t kicked a ball in the Premier League since September. Walker-Peters started Spurs’ opening-day win at Newcastle back in August but the return of Danny Rose and the addition of Serge Aurier has seen him find limited opportunities at our club.
But after Aurier’s horror show last weekend, there might be a chance for Walker-Peters to impress on Wednesday.
Here’s what the fans want to see.
I get that but Aurier has not matched KWP performance against Newcastle or even come close

I have mouthed off about him on here probably too much but what frustrates me the most is whilst he cant cross, gives away penalties, can’t even perform a throw in Kyle walker peters isnt getting a chance. I’d sell both right backs in the summer

Must be gutting for Kyle Walker Peters, been ready for a year now. We’d rather of spent 20 million on Aurier than promote him. fucking hell

Anyone else think it’s time Kyle Walker-Peters got a run of games? Trip and Serge aren’t up to it, why not? Kazaiah Sterling instead of Tree man too. The gamble on youth.

Aurier is a fucking liability, would rather the young Kyle-walker Peters than that dopey speng, put me on the pitch I’d two foot bang Costa’s wee ashy feet back to the favelas

Kyle walker peters > Serge aurier

Would have rather just trusted KWP than buy Aurier. He’s the worst player on our roster.

1 foul throw let alone 3 is unforgivable. I’d rather KWP any day of the week. #COYS

Nobody remember the last ditch tackle that saved a goal v Palace. No thought not. Support ALL the players on the pitch. COYS
Yes, the tackle saved us, plus he nearly scored with his shot. BUT, 7 times out of 10 his last ditch tackle would have resulted in a penalty. I WANT to support ALL our players, and I do! ..but we made a huge mistake selling Walker a season too early. KWP could well be ready to compete with Trippier next season, but he’s not ready yet. Meanwhile, at 25, I can’t see Aurier improving much further, and to all those Spurs fans who thought he was some sort of upgrade on Walker in August (er ..a world class Man City right back moulded at Spurs v PSG 3rd choice RB), hopefully there’ll be no more delusion on that front, because from his very first game you could see an air of desperation about his play. I don’t want Spurs to have whipping boys, and I hope I’m proved wrong between now and the end of the season, but Aurier, Sissoko and Llorente (as things stand) should be shipped out in the summer.
Why dont these idiots shut up and remember its hes first season. He’ll get better after poch works on him.
