Tottenham are considering a move for Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus but could face competition from Liverpool, according to The Mirror.
The German’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season and he is reportedly stalling over a new deal which means that he could end up joining a new club ahead of next season. In six seasons with Dortmund, Reus has gone on to score 91 goals from 193 appearances for the club.
So far this season, the 28-year-old has played four times, scoring twice after returning from a hamstring injury. Reus is a quality player who is surely bound to attract a lot of attention from big-name clubs and his current contract situation means that Dortmund will have no choice but to sell him cheaply during the summer.
Though Reus has won the Bundesliga player of the season award five times, he has yet to win a League title. Considering that he is a quality player who is in the prime of his career, the chance to play for a club that can genuinely challenge for major trophies will surely be something appealing to him.
Injuries have been something that has affected Reus drastically in his career and if it were not for serious injuries, it is likely that he would have been playing for a club such as Manchester City, Real Madrid or Barcelona.
Reus will provide us with a quality option in midfield and is the type of player that we need in order to challenge for major trophies next season. Though he is a risk due to his injury history, he will come cheaply and this will make a potential deal worth the gamble.
Reus is pure quality when fit and he’d be a brilliant addition to this already talented Tottenham squad.
