One of Nice’s best players from last season, Jean Michael Seri has been linked with a move away from the Ligue 1 side and a report from the Sun claims that Tottenham are in the race to sign the midfielder.

The 26-year-old had a stellar season last time around and was even linked with a move to Barcelona but the deal fell through at the last moment. The report now claims that we are interested in the player but Liverpool are the ones who are leading the race for the Ivorian.

Barcelona didn’t want to meet the valuation of the 26-year-old as the Ligue 1 club wanted £35 million, which is a bit of a bargain in all honesty. We have seen the price of players soar as soon as clubs display an interest in them and it is a bit of a surprise as to why Seri has not been able to leave Nice for a bigger club.

Liverpool seem favourites to sign the player up as Emre Can is more or less joining Juventus on a free transfer and Jurgen Klopp has to plug the hole that will be created in the midfield of the Reds.

We too are looking at someone who can do the Mousa Dembele role for a few years to come and given that the Belgian has had his injury issues over the years, making a move for Seri does make sense in the grand scheme of things.

The 26-year-old is known for his ability to pass the ball around and is great at taking set-pieces too, which doesn’t sound much like Dembele. Seri does have a great engine though, and that is something which will certainly interest Mauricio Pochettino and a number of our fans.

The main issue would be a number of clubs are looking to sign the Ivorian up with Manchester United and Arsenal also interested, which will hike Nice’s asking price for sure.

Spurs should try to sign him up as he will provide us with a quality option in midfield and hopefully, Seri will turn out into a great player in the years to come.
