Tottenham given massive transfer boost as Bayern Munich coach dismisses links with Ligue 1 star

Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have been given a surprise boost in their pursuit of Bordeaux star Malcom as Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes has dismissed claims that the German club are interested in the winger.

Malcom has netted 8 goals in Ligue 1 for Bordeaux this season. The 21-year-old’s rich vein of form had attracted the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal and the Mirror reported last month that the Brazilian wanted to leave the club in the winter transfer window. However, nothing materialised and Malcom stayed put at Bordeaux.

But As per Sports Bild, Bayern Munich were also interested in Malcom and had met with the Brazilian winger’s representatives in February.

While according to the Sports Bild, Malcom had agreed to a five-year-deal “on principle” with Bayern, the German club’s head coach has blatantly denied that his club is interested in signing the nippy winger.

“I have never seen him play,” Heynckes was quoted by the Express.

“Therefore, I am not able give an opinion on him. But I don’t think there is interest here. He always gets put into the shopping window but nobody really goes after him.”

With Heynckes ruling out Bayern in the race for Malcom, I assume it is good for Tottenham, who have been linked with him. It comes as a massive boost for Spurs if they are genuinely thinking of signing Malcom in summer.

However, for some reason, the Brazilian has scored just one goal in his previous 12 games for Bordeaux. By the looks of it, I assume that Malcom’s head is clearly not at Bordeaux and that will look for greener pastures in summer.

And if Spurs are thinking of signing the player when the transfer window reopens, they have to start making plans from now.
