According to Tottenham Hotspur star Lucas Moura, Spurs have a great chance to end the Chelsea hoodoo in the Premier League this weekend.

Lucas, who joined Spurs from Paris Saint-Germain in January, has witnessed our club perform incredibly well to register victories over Manchester United and Arsenal. We also staged a late comeback at Anfield to draw 2-2 against Liverpool and shock Juventus in the Champions League before eventually falling just short.

Having not been picked in the Brazil squad for the friendlies, Lucas, who got a great opportunity to put some extra hours in the training at Hotspur Way, sees no reason why Spurs can’t pick a long overdue league victory at Stamford Bridge when the Premier League returns this weekend.

“It’s true, it’s a big game and I can’t wait for it,” Lucas told TottenhamHotspur.com. “I’m excited to be around, to hopefully be involved and I believe firmly that we can win.

“This year we are very good – we’ve had great games against Manchester United, Arsenal and even against Juventus over the two matches, so I’m sure we can produce a great game against Chelsea also because I think we are very, very talented.

“I’ve been waiting for this kind of match. The Premier League is the best league in the world and I’m happy to be here and to hopefully be involved in a London derby like this. It’s a big, big match, I’m excited for it and this week we will all prepare very well for it.”

Lucas has had a good start to his life at North London, making 6 appearances so far in all competitions and helping the club to a semi-final berth in the FA Cup. He has 3 assists and a goal to his name so far.

The Brazilian hopes to claim the bragging rights over two of his close friends and countrymen, Willian and David Luiz, as Spurs look to claim a top-four finish this season.

“I’m sure we can have a great game but we need to respect Chelsea because they are very strong,” he added.

“Of course I know all about players like Willian – at this moment he is so good – and David Luiz also, who was my team-mate at PSG. They are my friends and I will be happy to see them.

“We will prepare for this game in the best way possible but I believe we can win there and that’s the most important thing – the three points that we need.”

A win at Stamford Bridge would widen the current five-point gap between ourselves and the 5th-placed Chelsea. With the top-four battle heating up, Tottenham must defeat Chelsea at the weekend.
