Tottenham to offer £8.5million-a-year deal to Pochettino – reports

According to the Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur are ready to make Mauricio Pochettino one of the best-paid managers in the Premier League to make him stay at Tottenham for a long time.

Pochettino, Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Jan Vertonghen, Hugo Lloris, Son Heung-min and Christian Eriksen are all expected to sign new bumper deals with the club in the coming months, according to the Telegraph.

The report claims that the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Real Madrid are all big admirers of Pochettino but that there is a belief around Tottenham that the Argentine will sign a new contract worth around £8.5 million-a-year.

The report also adds that the latest contract offered to Poch would represent a significant £3m increase on his current salary. Should the gaffer sign the latest contract, it will place him fourth on the list of the Premier League’s highest paid managers, behind Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

The Argentine signed his last Tottenham contract (worth £5.5m-a-year) in May 2016 and the club are ready to reward him for two more years of rich development.

The report adds that Pochettino expects the club to splash more money in the transfer market apart from wanting his best players to stay at the club. He has also banned the search for a new sporting director to maintain control over his signings.

Pochettino has become one of the most sought-after coaches in European football after blooding the club’s youngsters and developing the team into one of England’s strongest sides.
