On the surface level, it might seem like Tottenham are on the verge of finishing an excellent season but looking closely, one will find there are several causes for concern.

Mauricio Pochettino deserves full credit for the way he has transformed us into an English powerhouse side but the fact that we are yet to lay our hands on silverware is truly a worrisome prospect.

Despite showing initial promise in the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup, we have crashed out of both competitions.

As far as the Premier League is concerned, Manchester City are the champions this season which leaves us without a trophy for yet another campaign. Harry Kane seems to agree with the fact that we’re short.

In a report published by Daily Express, Kane expresses his opinion about the situation and has implied that Tottenham need to make some changes.

“There’s obviously a reason why we’re falling short in the semi-finals, or in the big games. We have to do better,” he said. “It’s frustrating, but we have to find our way round it.

“I wouldn’t say it’s a mental block but it’s annoying. We weren’t good enough.

“We’ve been close, but obviously we were not good enough in the final minutes. So that’s the harsh lesson that we have to learn,” concluded Kane.

He also went on to add:

“This one is going to hurt, probably until the end of the season. It’s been a tough week with the defeat to Manchester City, the frustration against Brighton and then this [the loss to Manchester United].

“But we’ve still got a job to do, we’ve still got to try to secure that Champions League spot, that’s massive for the club, going into next season and the new stadium.”

Kane has enjoyed a great season this time and is a top contender for winning the Golden Boot. He faces immense competition from Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah and if Kane is to beat him, the striker must forget the poor performances and do better in the games to come.At present, Tottenham are placed 4th in the Premier League standings are on the verge of finishing the season as the best team in London. Chelsea are behind us by 5 points whereas Arsenal are at 6th place, 11 points behind us.

This is a remarkable achievement but there is no denying that we need to step up our pursuit of winning trophies next season.
