Ryan Sessegnon

As per a report from Football London, ex-Fulham star Leroy Rosenior believes that Tottenham Hotspur have beaten the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool to secure a deal for Ryan Sessegnon, reported to be £50million.

The teenager has set the Championship alight with his splendid performances. Sessegnon is the epitome of the modern-day full-back in the sense that he can attack and defend with equal gusto.

He has been deployed on the left-wing a couple of times as well and the youngster has excelled in pretty much every department. The 17-year-old has a whopping 15 goals and 6 assists to his name in the English second-tier this season.

Given his performances, it comes as no surprise that Sessegnon is being chased by some of the top Premier League clubs. Although the Cottagers are fighting for a qualification to the top-flight, they might still end up losing their star player, if the report from Football London is to be believed.

His versatility is one of his strongest suits. He has started 19 times as a left-back and 17 times as a left-winger this season, meaning he is quite comfortable at both ends of the field.

Needless to say, he would be a great player for us. It remains to be seen if the deal actually happens in the summer but Rosenior seems to think we have a good chance.

“I think that a deal has been done for Ryan as teams have been in for him,” said Rosenior.

“It’s a Premier League side with strong rumours of Tottenham. I wouldn’t be surprised if other sides have been in for him as well.

“His future is already mapped out. Ryan has great potential. He is one of those players who you think he’s not a left-back and not a left-winger. He could be an amazing player,” he concluded.

At this stage, we can only hope it is true. Sessegnon represents immense potential and he could thrive in a set-up like Tottenham’s. Furthermore, with Danny Rose’s long-term future uncertain, the teenager could be a great addition for us.
