Cometh the hour, cometh the man – Harry Kane has taken the saying to a new level with Tottenham this season. The prolific Englishman has played a starring role for Spurs over the last couple of years and this season was no different.
A contender for the Golden Boot yet again, Kane has established himself as a lethal strike force. He has been dependable as well. More often than not, the sensational striker steps up whenever Tottenham need him and the recent game against Newcastle United was another occasion of the same.
Spurs desperately needed 3 points to secure a berth in next season’s Champions League and although the game looked like it would end in a stalemate, Kane stepped forward and scored a goal. The Magpies failed to come back from that and it marked his 39th goal of the season.
The performance, on the whole, was scrappy at best and Kane wasn’t in his best form either. However, given the circumstances and the magnitude of the victory, that goal helped Tottenham finish as the best team in London this season.
Playing in next season’s Champions League will not be without its set of challenges but Kane seemed to be positive about the whole thing. Speaking to Tottenham’s official channel on YouTube, the player opened up about the many challenges of playing away from home at Wembley but he seemed optimistic about next season.
He also admitted that this has been a tough season for Tottenham and that is understandable. However, here’s to hoping Kane and co are able to light up our new stadium with goals and more next season. Catch his interview below:
