Tottenham announced on their Twitter account that they have extended the contract of a defender but before the fans could get excited thinking that it was one of the big-name defenders, it turned out that the player was Cameron Carter-Vickers.

The American defender had been on loan at two clubs, Sheffield United and then Ipswich Town this season. While he did have decent enough spells for both clubs, the reaction on Twitter wasn’t all that great as a number of fans wanted us to extend Toby Alderweireld’s deal.
As we all know, Spurs and Toby have not been able to finalise a deal to extend his stay at the club and a number of fans shared their reactions on the networking site.
Keeping hold of Toby Alderweireld is important indeed but the fans expressing their thoughts on this under a tweet that announced another player’s contract extension was a bit surprising. Here’s how the fans reacted:
