Tanguy Ndombele

According to a report by French publication L’Equipe, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a summer swoop for French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, who plays for Amiens but is currently serving a loan spell with Lyon.

The defensive midfielder was in sensational form for Lyon in the recent season and it comes as no surprise that Tottenham are eyeing a move him. The talented youngster managed to score a goal and provide 7 assists as Lyon finished 3rd in the Ligue 1 standings.

As far as Tottenham are concerned, there has been a significant level of uncertainty surrounding Mousa Dembele’s future.

Over the years, he has matured into a key player for us but with his contract set to expire next summer, there have been doubts as to whether or not he will continue with Spurs.

Barring Dembele, we still have the likes of Eric Dier, Harry Winks and Victor Wanyama but if we are to launch a challenge for the Premier League and progress further in the Champions League, it will be necessary to boost our depth and quality in that area.

Thus, a move for Ndombele seems like a step in the right direction. Wanyama has struggled with consistency whereas Winks is yet to return to match fitness after sustaining a terrible injury last season.

That leaves us with Dier, who is one of our most reliable midfielders. However, he cannot carry the brunt of responsibilities on his shoulders all alone.

It remains to be seen if we are able to secure this deal for Ndombele or not but if we do, it will be a good one.
