Tottenham’s fixture list for the Premier League 2018/19 season is out and all eyes were on when we would be playing our first home game.

We all know that the club is finalising work on the new £850m stadium and Tottenham confirmed that the first “home” game in the new stadium would be against Liverpool on the weekend of 15/16 September.

That game would actually be our second home match as we face Fulham at home on 18 August. However, since the new stadium would not be ready by that date, we would be playing this one match at Wembley.

We played all our home matches last season at Wembley as we finished third in the Premier League and also did a pretty good job in the Champions League by defeating Borussia Dortmund and eventual winners Real Madrid.

It might come as a dampener that we cannot start the season with our new stadium but it does give us the added impetus of performing well as we would now be going up against a decent Liverpool side.

Last season we defeated the Reds 4-1 in the corresponding fixture, and in fact, absolutely ran riot against Jurgen Klopp’s men. We even fought hard against the Merseyside club to gain a point at Anfield in the reverse fixture.

Hopefully, we will be able to batter the Reds in our first home game of the season and create a fantastic base for the rest of the season.
