Vincent Janssen

Vincent Janssen could be open to playing for a club other than Tottenham next season as the Dutch striker tries to resurrect his career.

The former AZ Alkmaar man was bought by Spurs in 2016 but could only score 6 goals from 36 games during his debut campaign. He was then sent out on loan to Turkish giants Fenerbahce but an injury cut short his playing time for the club.

While it still is not clear if Janssen will be a part of our plans in the future, the 24-year-old told NOS (h/t football.london) that he just wants to play football.

“I want to play, that’s important. Last season I was injured at Fenerbahce for a long time. We are going to find the best solution.

“I just want to play football now, whether it’s at Tottenham, Fenerbahce or somewhere else. I have my ideas about that, hopefully there will be more clarity soon.”

The Dutch striker was also asked if he would like to return to the Turkish club and he did say that “chapter” had not closed, and that he would be open to everything.

Janssen, unfortunately, is one of those signings that just did not work out for us and no matter how hard the 24-year-old tried, he just could not get into the right rhythm at Tottenham.

It is likely that we will let him leave in the summer but it would be interesting to find out which clubs are interested in a striker that has potential but just needs to get into the right team to perform well.
