Paulinho‘s career has been full of ups and downs and the former Tottenham man is now playing for Barcelona and is representing his country in the World Cup.

The midfielder spent a couple of years with Spurs but things never worked out for him and he was sold to Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande for a fee of £10million.

Now that his career has been resurrected, the 29-year-old was speaking to the Player’s Tribune (h/t football.london) where he opened up about his time at Tottenham.

“I would like to clear up something about my time at Spurs. I really cannot say a bad word about the club or the staff or the president. It is true that it was a very difficult period for me as a player, and there were times when I did not want to leave my apartment in London because I was so stressed about not playing.”

The Brazilian also added that he had a tough time in his second season at White Hart Lane but the current Brazil manager Tite always believed in him.

Paulinho was also not happy that he wasn’t playing football for Mauricio Pochettino as he was not in the Argentine’s plans but he did say the pair never had a disagreement.

The Brazilian then revealed he was willing to take a risk and go to China when Spurs got an offer from Guangzhou Evergrande, and the rest, they say is history.

While we never got to see the best of the Brazilian, this does read like a feel-good story given that the star was ridiculed by many after joining Tottenham.

He has found his boots at Barcelona and is finally showing what he is capable of and all I can say is that he deserves all the luck he is receiving right now.
