Tottenham have entered the race to sign Steven N’Zonzi and will battle Arsenal for the signature of the Frenchman, according to Marca (h/t football.london).

The 29-year-old is in Russia with the French national side for the World Cup and the report claims that we are waiting to make an offer for the Sevilla man.

N’Zonzi has a £35million release in his contract with the La Liga club and is expected to leave Sevilla before the end of the transfer window.

While Spurs might be waiting for the end of the World Cup to start talks with the former Blackburn Rovers man, the Frenchman moving to Arsenal might seem out of place given the Gunners signed a couple of midfielders, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouz.

N’Zonzi does have some experience of playing in England with Blackburn and he could be a decent signing for us given his price and knowledge of English conditions.

The big issue would be his age given that he is nearing 30, however, he could have a couple of good years left in him and he could be the replacement for Mousa Dembele.

The 29-year-old certainly is quality and could do a decent job for us in the coming season. We are yet to sign a new player this summer and N’Zonzi would not be a bad player to start off the spending for the new season.
