Wilfried Zaha

Tottenham have been handed a boost in their hopes of signing Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace as the Times reveals the Ivorian has rejected a new deal with the Eagles.

Zaha was one of the best players for the side last season as he helped them stave off relegation and was offered a deal of £120,000-a-week.

The player would have been on par with the highest earner at Palace, Christian Benteke, however, his agent and Zaha are concerned about players coming into Selhurst Park given that Roy Hodgson has stated that the club do not have a lot of money to spend.

There is one major obstacle in the transfer taking place and that is the price tag on the winger. Palace want £70million for Zaha, which is a price that we are not willing to pay for the 25-year-old.

The report adds that we could end up sending Moussa Sissoko the other way as a makeweight, as he is amongst several unwanted players at Tottenham.

Tottenham have not bought a single player in the transfer window yet while our rivals are strengthening their sides to no end.

We cannot be going into the new season without any new faces, as a number of our stars were busy with the World Cup. Nine Tottenham players were a part of the semi-final too.

Zaha would be an excellent signing for us, however, we should not be looking to pay £70million for a player that could not cut it at a big club earlier in his career.

If we can send one or two unwanted players away to Palace and then bring him in for a cheaper sum, it would make more sense as we would also end up reducing the wage bill at the club.
