Harry Kane has stated that although he is set to return to training with Tottenham on 6th August, he expects the side to be fit and ready to face Newcastle United on 11th August.

The England captain was speaking to Sky Sports and one of the important aspects of the interview was the lack of transfer activity at the club.

We are the only club from the top-six who have not signed a single player but Kane still trusts the management team.

“That’s up to the gaffer and the chairman, and I am sure they will get who they want and get rid of who they want.

“From our point of view we’ve just got to focus – we’ve got a great squad, we’re growing and getting better each year, and it’s important for us going into the new stadium just to keep progressing.”

While Kane scored an incredible 30 goals for us last season, it was still not enough to track down Manchester City who won the Premier League rather easily.

Kane was also asked about challenging Pep Guardiola’s side and he said,

“City had an amazing year last year but the Premier League is tough and it doesn’t always happen like that to go year on year so we’ve just got to focus on ourselves and see what we can do.”

It will be tough for us to challenge anyone if we don’t bring new players into the side. Liverpool and Manchester United have already added quality to their side and even Arsenal have brought in a number of players.

Tottenham have to pull up their socks as we cannot expect Kane to bail us out this season too. But the Englishman will be looking to at least pick up the golden boot this season.
