Blow for Tottenham as star midfielder returns to London with injury

Victor Wanyama has returned to London to deal with an injury to his knee, which will come as a blow as we are already thin in midfield ahead of the season.

Moussa Sissoko also limped off in the 5-3 penalty shootout loss at the hands of Barcelona in the International Champions Cup match and Mauricio Pochettino claimed that we would learn more about Wanyama’s injury in the coming days.

The Argentine was quoted by the Daily Mail as saying:

“Victor is back in London because he needs to see the doctor there and assess in the next few days and see what happened.”

Wanyama has had a tough time regarding injuries at Tottenham and the Kenyan missed four months of action last season.

The problem in our midfield has heightened even more as Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele are yet to return to the side after their achievements in the World Cup.

The pair is on a break, similar to other England and Belgium players who faced off in the third-place playoff game at the World Cup.

We do not have a lot of time left to sign players and more importantly, we have not brought in anyone to add depth to the side either. A lot of work needs to be done if we are to get players on board in this transfer window.

It will be interesting to see how we line up in the first game of the season, however, one thing is for sure – we need to avoid injuries to ensure a quality side can be put out.
