Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko could face retrospective action after an alleged stamp on Newcastle midfielder Kenedy in the 43rd minute.

A report from The Sun claims that the Brazilian had already been penalised and was on the ground when the incident took place.

Sissoko apparently had trodden on the calf of the Brazilian and he could face a three-match ban, according to the report from The Sun.

Tottenham had Sissoko in the starting line-up and we took the lead, thanks to Jan Vertonghen’s header. While Spurs were pegged back via a goal from Joselu, the winner came from Dele Alli, with all the goals coming in the first half.

Should Sissoko pick up a ban it would certainly hamper our plans as Mauricio Pochettino would have to rethink on who would start in the middle of the park in the coming games.

The French midfielder was not the worst player on the pitch at St. James’ Park but he must do better in the upcoming games, provided he does not pick a ban.

Of course, we had Mousa Dembele on the bench in the match against Newcastle and the Belgian can do a great job in the heart of the park.

It will be important for us to not lose any of our stars to bans this season and hopefully, Sissoko can avoid such a ban after just the first game of the season.
